CAPTURE OF LIGHTNING DISCHARGE - EXAMPLE USING THE ROLLING SPHERE METHOD

Select the LPL (Lightning Protection Level) required.
For ease of reference the table is shown below.
For the example we will use a LPL II that has a Rolling Sphere of 30m radius:

Make a scale drawing of the structure to be protected with all protrusions. In this example the radio mast on the front left corner.
Make a scale drawing of the Rolling Sphere ( example use 30m radius).
“Roll” the sphere over the surface of the structure.
In the example below a 30m radius sphere rolled over the structure provides cover to areas in blue. The remaining areas require
Finials and/or a Mesh system to be installed as explained on the previous page.
